Squid (calamari) are one of the most rewarding — and tastiest — catches available to Australian anglers, and you don't need a boat to get them. Here's how to set up and fish a squid jig from any jetty, rock wall or weed-edge flat.

Gear you need: A light 2-4kg spin rod, 2500-size reel, 10lb braid with a 10-15lb fluorocarbon leader, and a handful of squid jigs in size 2.5 to 3.5.
